In January 2012, I was co-curator and lead producer the largest SASSAS project to date: Welcome Inn Time Machine, a part of the Pacific Standard Time Performance and Public Art Festival. Welcome Inn Time Machine transformed the rooms of a Los Angeles motel into a venue for live performances—micro-concerts in individual motel rooms—creating a 6-hour tour through key moments in LA experimental music produced between 1949-1977. Among the more than 40 works presented were historic pieces by Bruce Nauman, Pauline Oliveros and James Tenney and a tribute to Ornette Coleman and free jazz in Los Angeles featuring David Ornette Cherry.
SASSAS (The Society for the Activation of Social Space through Art and Sound) is a 501c3 non profit that serves as a catalyst for the creation, presentation, and recognition of experimental art and sound practices in the Greater Los Angeles area.
