MacDowell, Weeks 1 and 2
MacDowell is my first non teaching residency and so far it’s been amazing. Four weeks of time, supported in every way possible. Lunch is even delivered to my door each day, left just outside on the screen porch so as not to disturb the working process. Extraordinary. I’m writing from a library filled with contributions from other MacDowell Fellows, to which I’ve been given a key for 24/7 access. I’m also writing just as some of the closest friends here have completed their stay and left….it seemed like a good time to report back to friends at home.
I’ve been concentrating on two bodies of work: an evolution of the social nudism project which I’ve broadened to a larger history presented as a series of episodes divided by year, and a series of watercolors for Vinland based on a quilt acquired from my Aunt Gladys in Beaches, Newfoundland.
